The banners you see on the front of the building are a creative placemaking project I created. This is a collection of art created by community members from across Sonoma Valley displayed on two seventeen-foot-tall banners on the front of the Sonoma Community Center during winter of 2023. People of all ages were invited to illustrate their response to the question, “What brings you joy?” by completing a bilingual form with a blank space in which to create. Completed images appear on the banners, brining attention to the Sonoma Community Center during its 70th Anniversary celebration. This project was made possible by Creative Sonoma through their Art Surround grant program. Below you can find all of the submitted images.
